1 The very first introductory verse from the Prashnottara Ratna Malika is as follows;
|| Kah Khalu Naalaakrayat Drusht-Adrusht-Ath-Saadhan-Pataayaan |
Asuya Kanthasthitaya Prashn-Uttar-Ratnamalika ||
2 Here Shri Adi Shankaracharya is trying to say that;
The seeker should not only keep this Gem-Garland of Questions and Answers with them, but memorize it for ready reference as it is the foremost means to obtaining the seen and the unseen goals (of life)!
3 After which the chain of question and answers start with this verse;
|| Bhagavan! Kim Upadeyam? ||
4 The rough translation of this verse is;
O Lord! Which is to be taken?
5 In answer to this query, Shankaracharya said;
|| Guru Vachanam ||
6 In this verse, Shankaracharya advised the followers to consider the utterances of the preceptor (Guru).
7 Any innocent seeker of knowledge can easily get confused (rather misguided) in this world that is full of ideologies. After which the first question that arises is to whom should I refer.
8 Such a seeker needs proper guidance which he can only get by applying the teachings of the Guru into his daily actions and thoughts.
9 Get to know which is the verse that Shri Adi Shankaracharya has described in our next video from Prashnottara Ratna Malika.
